Why did this Republican administration give Iran money to buy weapons?

To: Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

March 24

This Republican administration started an unconstitutional and unnecessary war with Iran. Iran responded by closing the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off a significant portion of the world’s oil supply. In response, this Republican administration lifted sanctions on Iranian oil in order to keep U.S. gas prices from rising. The US has now paid Iran, our wartime adversary, nearly $14 billion for oil. Iran, our adversary, now has an additional $14 billion to spend on weapons to kill our troops and further destabilize the Middle East. This administration wants U.S. soldiers to die. Do you, as a Republican member of Congress, support funding a nation that wants to kill American service members? Will that be your legacy? Or will you defend the Constitution and stand up to this administration? My wife and I urge you to oppose this illegal war, refuse any more funding for it, and prevent the needless deaths of U.S. servicemembers.
