I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent to express my outrage and alarm regarding recent actions taken by ICE agents across the country. Reports of false arrests, intimidation, excessive use of force, and the deaths of individuals during enforcement operations are profoundly disturbing and demand immediate attention.
No agency tasked with public safety should operate in a way that fosters fear, targets vulnerable communities, or appears to act without meaningful accountability. The pattern of aggressive enforcement tactics, bullying behavior, and lack of transparency undermines public trust and raises serious concerns about violations of constitutional and human rights.
As elected leaders, you have both the authority and responsibility to speak out against abuses of power and to demand oversight when federal agencies act in ways that harm communities. Silence or inaction in the face of these events sends a troubling message that such conduct is acceptable.
I urge you to, publicly condemn the use of excessive force and unlawful detentions, call for independent, transparent investigations into ICE conduct, advocate for policies that prioritize due process, accountability, and human dignity and support legislative efforts that ensure federal law enforcement agencies are subject to meaningful oversight.
Immigration enforcement should never come at the cost of human life, civil liberties, or basic decency. Our communities deserve safety without fear, and law enforcement practices that reflect justice rather than intimidation. I ask that you use your position to uphold the values of accountability, fairness, and respect for human rights.
