Insider Wagers on Impending Military Actions

To: Sen. Johnson, Sen. Baldwin, Rep. Pocan

From: A constituent in Sun Prairie, WI

March 2

I write to express my deep concern and displeasure regarding reports that individuals placed bets on online gambling and prediction-market platforms concerning potential U.S. military actions against Venezuela and Iran. If these reports are accurate, and if any such wagers were informed by insider knowledge of impending military operations, this would represent a serious ethical and national security breach. Military action is not a vehicle for private profit. Any suggestion that individuals may have used privileged information connected to potential combat operations for personal financial gain demands immediate and thorough investigation. I respectfully urge Congress to investigate these reports fully, determine whether any laws, regulations, or ethical standards were violated, and ensure that any violators are punished appropriately. Public confidence in our institutions depends on swift accountability when national security may have been exploited for personal enrichment.
