Stop the EPA from cutting limits on greenhouse gases

To: Rep. Bynum, Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley

From: A constituent in Happy Valley, OR

June 14

The proposed rollbacks to climate and pollution regulations for power plants are deeply concerning. Erasing limits on greenhouse gas emissions and hazardous pollutants like mercury will undoubtedly exacerbate the worsening climate crisis and pose serious public health risks. The EPA's core mission is to protect the environment and human health, not enable further degradation through fossil fuel industry deregulation. These moves represent a major setback in our efforts to rein in dangerous emissions driving global warming and exposing Americans to toxic pollutants. I urge you to vigorously oppose these regulatory rollbacks and uphold strong climate and clean air protections. The consequences of unchecked pollution from power plants are severe - from escalating climate impacts to neurological damage and respiratory illness from mercury exposure. We have a moral imperative to safeguard public health and a livable climate for current and future generations. Prioritizing short-term industry profits over environmental protection is morally and scientifically indefensible. I implore you to take decisive action to defend the EPA's vital role as an environmental steward.
