I firmly oppose the authoritarian actions taken by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during her visit to Los Angeles. Having Sen. Alex Padilla, a democratically elected representative, forcibly removed and detained for simply attempting to ask a question is a blatant violation of civil liberties and democratic principles. This heavy-handed response to dissent is unacceptable in a free society. Noem's statements about "liberating" Los Angeles from its leadership are deeply concerning rhetoric that undermines the will of the people. Her actions reinforce criticisms that the Department of Homeland Security prioritizes oppressive policies over respecting human rights. I urge you to publicly condemn Secretary Noem's conduct and the escalating militarization of immigration enforcement in Los Angeles. The people of this city deserve leaders who will defend their Constitutional freedoms, not trample on them through intimidation tactics. Noem has proven herself unfit to serve, and I request you call for her immediate resignation to restore accountability and respect for democratic values.
