Please oppose the NOSHA Act

The NOSHA Act (H.R. 86) seeks to abolish the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which plays a crucial role in protecting the health and safety of workers across various industries. Repealing OSHA would remove critical safeguards and regulations that have significantly reduced workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities over the past five decades. According to OSHA's own data, since its inception, workplace fatalities have been cut by more than 65%, and workplace injury and illness rates have fallen by 67%. OSHA standards have contributed to the prevention of countless deaths and serious injuries, ensuring safer working conditions for millions of American workers. Abandoning OSHA would undermine hard-won progress in workplace safety and put workers at risk of exposure to hazardous conditions, toxic substances, and preventable accidents. It would also remove crucial oversight and enforcement mechanisms, potentially leading to a resurgence of unsafe practices and cutting corners by employers to prioritize profits over worker well-being. The decision to abolish OSHA should be reconsidered in light of its proven track record in protecting workers' lives and promoting safer, healthier workplaces. Instead of dismantling this essential agency, efforts should be made to strengthen and improve its effectiveness in addressing emerging workplace hazards and evolving industry needs.
