Support the USPS Shipping Equity Act

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Davidson

I'm asking you to co-sponsor and vote yes on the USPS Shipping Equity Act. This legislation would allow the Postal Service to ship alcohol directly to consumers in states that already permit it, ending an outdated restriction that only benefits private carriers. Right now, USPS is banned from shipping alcohol even though private companies can legally deliver it to my door. This makes no sense. The bill would create real competition in alcohol delivery, generate an estimated $180 million in new revenue for USPS in the first year, and help small craft breweries reach customers in rural areas where private carriers don't always serve. Small breweries need this. Seventy-six percent of craft producers are taprooms and brewpubs that depend on direct-to-consumer sales to survive. Eighty-four percent of craft beer drinkers want the ability to order beer for home delivery. Even the American Postal Workers Union supports this as a common-sense step. This isn't about creating new shipping rights—it's about letting USPS compete on equal footing in states that already allow alcohol delivery. Pass this bill.
