I write to you today to express my deep concerns about the influence of Elon Musk on national affairs, as well as the potential impact of budget decisions on Social Security benefits. It is troubling to see Mr. Musk act as though he were an elected official. He has not been elected to any political office, yet his influence seems to extend into Congressional matters. This raises concerns about accountability and whether Congress is prioritizing the needs of its constituents over external influences. Congress works for the people, not for unelected influencers. I am particularly concerned about potential reductions to Social Security Disability benefits, which I rely on, as well as the Social Security payments my father depends on. My stepmother, who passed away in April 2024, also relied on Social Security. Her passing significantly reduced my parents' household income, making it difficult for my father to meet basic expenses such as utilities, food, the house payment, insurance premiums, and gasoline. Due to these financial challenges, I had to move in with my father to help him meet his obligations. Any further reductions in Social Security would be devastating to families like ours. Recently, I read reports suggesting that Congress might consider a $70,000 pay raise for its members. I find it deeply concerning that such proposals are being discussed while constituents face the prospect of losing essential benefits. Is it fair for citizens who rely on Social Security to endure cuts while Congress increases its own pay? I also want to share how this situation affects my health. I suffer from severe anxiety, and the ongoing threats to Social Security benefits have caused me significant stress. This stress exacerbates my TMJ, making it difficult for me to eat and worsening my overall health. It is disheartening that the safety net you helped me secure after a four-year battle could now be at risk. I urge you to prioritize the needs of your constituents in Northwest Arkansas when making budget decisions. Please ensure that Social Security benefits remain protected for individuals like my father and me, who depend on them to survive. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I appreciate your continued service and advocacy on behalf of Arkansans.
