Demand Transparency on Data Center Development in Paulding County

To: Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Alsobrooks, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

September 28

Stop lying to us about data centers. Paulding County commissioners have told the public no new data centers will be built here, but a 20-year fiber optic worker is watching the infrastructure for exactly that get installed right now. That is not a miscommunication. That is a lie. The public deserves to know what is being built in our county, who is funding it, and what it will cost local workers. These facilities don't create the jobs they promise. They displace them, blue collar and white collar alike, and the tech companies behind them have no loyalty to this community. When the tax incentives run out, they leave. We don't. I want a full public accounting of every data center project currently in development or under infrastructure preparation in this county. Hold a public hearing, put the contracts on record, and answer the fiber optic worker's question on the record. Constituents are watching, and we will remember who chose transparency and who chose to cover for corporations.
