Support for Rep. Massie’s AIPAC bill
To: Rep. Johnson
From: A constituent in Dallas, TX
May 16
I am writing as a concerned American citizen to urge you to support Representative Thomas Massie’s legislation strengthening oversight and transparency surrounding foreign influence organizations operating in the United States.
This is a bipartisan issue— we have long believed in defending American sovereignty, protecting our citizens, and ensuring that our government answers to the American people — not to foreign governments, foreign money, or international lobbying networks.
The American people are increasingly concerned that powerful organizations with close ties to foreign interests wield enormous influence over our elections, our media environment, and our policymaking process. Whether the foreign influence comes from China, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, or any other nation, Americans deserve full transparency and accountability.
No foreign-aligned lobbying organization should be able to shape U.S. policy behind closed doors while ordinary citizens struggle to have their voices heard. If an organization is effectively advocating for the interests of a foreign government, the American people have a right to know exactly who is funding that advocacy and how that influence is being exercised.
This is not about hostility toward any nation or people. It is about protecting constitutional self-government here at home. America’s laws should be written for the benefit of American families, American workers, American veterans, and American communities — not according to the strategic priorities of foreign powers.
I urge you to stand with the American people, support Rep. Massie’s bill, and reaffirm that the United States government belongs to its citizens alone.
Thank you for your service and your attention to this important issue.
