The 2026 midterms may be the most consequential elections of our lifetimes, and I need you to act now to protect them. The Trump administration has already attempted to seize voter roll data — blocked only by district courts — and has deployed federal troops to American cities over the objections of elected governors. The Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. Illinois that deploying Illinois National Guard troops in Chicago violated 10 USC §12406. That should be the end of it. It isn't. Trump has publicly expressed regret for not using the military to seize voting machines after 2020. His advisers who stopped him then are gone. The Insurrection Act remains available as a legal override, and the 2024 immunity ruling in Trump v. United States makes prosecution for domestic deployments nearly impossible. The machinery for military interference in a federal election is assembled and waiting. The Declaration of Independence was written precisely to reject this kind of executive overreach — a government that places military power above civilian law and turns force against its own people. Two hundred and fifty years later, that principle is on the line. Pass legislation restricting Insurrection Act deployment during election periods, defend the courts blocking voter data seizures, and make clear that no president commands his way above the will of the voters. No kings. No tyrants.
