Congress MUST rein in ICE. The agency is out of control, operating more like a criminal band of thugs than a law enforcement body.
They kidnapped and disappeared a university student, a Fulbright Scholar no less, for simply writing an op-ed in a student newspaper. They have snatched a mother from her breast-feeding infant and a father in front of his autistic son. They have literally broken into cars and homes, dragged out and disappeared the occupants, with no warrants, showing no identification, and masked.
Every day we read new horror stories of ICE violations of the law, the Constitution, and human dignity.
Just today they arrested the mayor of Newark, who was standing on public ground at the time, and laid hands on three sitting members of Congress.
Sitting. Members. Of Congress. Doesn’t that give you pause? If government officials aren’t safe from these brutes, who is? Certainly not college students nor parents nor mayors nor children with cancer nor, well, the list goes on.
This isn’t law enforcement. This is brutality. This is the raw and dangerous abuse of power. This is terrorism. And it MUST stop!
It is time, it is PAST time, that this agency be brought to heel. Enough is enough. You’re in Congress. You have the power. All federal agencies must ultimately answer to YOU. It’s high time you started exerting that authority.
Investigate ICE. Bring the thugs to heel. DO YOUR DAMNED JOB.
