The Iran War Was Your Choice — Now Clean Up Your Mess

As an American citizen, I am writing to hold you accountable for the catastrophic conflict with Iran that is currently harming Americans at the pump, draining our resources, and destabilizing global security. In 2015, the JCPOA placed functional, verified diplomatic guardrails on Iran’s nuclear program. While Donald Trump’s foolish destruction of that treaty in 2018 set the stage, this catastrophic war was entirely avoidable. It is the direct result of political enablers like you backing a second Trump term, creating an administration reckless enough to take Netanyahu’s bait and launch a war of choice. A conventional, rational leader would have avoided this trap, but your faction chose to plunge us into an active conflict that has choked the Strait of Hormuz, caused diesel and transportation costs to skyrocket, and triggered an inflationary shock felt across the entire U.S. economy. American taxpayers aren't just paying more at the pump; they are paying a premium on groceries, consumer goods, and basic necessities due to your catastrophic failure of leadership. While you were not in the Administration when the JCPOA was dismantled, you chose to tie your political fortunes to the man who did it. Years ago, you publicly and accurately criticized Donald Trump’s erratic, dangerous leadership. Yet you reversed your principles to defend his foreign policy blunders and join his ticket. Now, as Vice President, you are tasked with managing the fallout of a war your running mate manufactured. This administration’s frantic diplomatic efforts—including the recent ceasefire talks in Islamabad—have been a desperate scramble to secure a framework that essentially tries to replicate the core elements of the JCPOA. It is a profound irony, and a massive strategic failure, that this administration triggered a devastating military conflict only to negotiate for the exact same nuclear concessions and sanctions-relief framework the United States already possessed a decade ago. Worse still, even that desperate backtracking is failing, leaving the Strait of Hormuz closed and Americans footing the bill for a crisis of your own making. This leaves room for only two possible conclusions: Either you lacked the strategic foresight to see that defending this reckless foreign policy would lead to predictable war, or you recognized the danger but prioritized your own political expediency over global stability. I demand that this administration finalize a permanent end to this conflict, secure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and restore the diplomatic guardrails that were foolishly destroyed. You chose to own this administration's platform; now you must answer for its consequences.
