Given the overwhelming support for Prop 50, and record disapproval of the Trump administration, California Democrats have a once in a generation to fix the foundational 3rd rail issues in our state that have handicapped us for generations. Despite those things we’re still the 4th largest economy in the world but we could be better. We are the center of American innovation but our government is running an operating system bogged down by the poor imagination of old men who made their fortunes in the gold rush. Please use your energy to help our state pass its own reforms to withstand this administration. We need Ranked Choice Voting, we need to undermine Citizens United by following Montana’s lead and take the right to political speech from corporate charters, we need ambitious infrastructure projects facilitated by replacing California Constitution’s Article XVI with modern state debt governance structures, we need to supercharge our housing construction by replacing prop 13 with a Land Value Tax, and repeal prop 218 to allow our cities the freedom to raise progressive taxes instead of rely on regressive fees that hurt the working class. These things will allow California to withstand outside attack and thrive in the face of fascism. These things will stand as beacons for other states to see what democrats can do in a democratic state.
