Abolish ICE and Redirect Billions Toward Real Transformation

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee, Pres. Trump, Sen. Plumb, Sen. Curtis, Gov. Cox, Rep. Dailey-Provost

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

July 15

Abolish ICE. Introduce or co-sponsor legislation to dismantle the agency and redirect its multi-billion dollar budget toward programs that will actually transform this country into the first-world nation it claims to be. ICE has become an agency defined by overreach, family separation, and civil rights abuses. Since its creation in 2003, it has caused deaths — in its detention facilities and on the streets — while doing nothing to make communities safer. That blood is on the hands of every official who continues to fund and defend it. The roughly $8 billion spent annually on ICE could fund universal healthcare coverage for millions of uninsured Americans, build tens of thousands of affordable housing units, fully fund Title I schools in low-income communities, and invest in the infrastructure that holds cities together. These are not abstract ideals — they are achievable with the money currently spent on detention and deportation. This is a choice about what kind of country we want to be. Take a clear stand: support abolishing ICE and fight to put those resources toward building something better for everyone.
