I’m writing to urge immediate action regarding Turning Point Academy in Granbury and its connection to John Conditt, a lifetime‑registered sex offender who admitted to repeatedly molesting a 6‑year‑old. Public filings list him as the manager of the organization operating the school, which raises serious concerns about governance, access, and child safety.
Texas law is clear:
• Texas Education Code §22.085 bars individuals with certain convictions from roles that allow contact or influence over schools.
• Texas Family Code §261.101 requires reporting and intervention when a child’s safety may be at risk.
• Texas Penal Code Chapter 62 exists to prevent registered offenders from having access to environments with children.
• CAPTA requires states to maintain systems that protect children in institutional settings.
Even if Conditt is not physically present on campus, his role in the governing entity is unacceptable for any school serving minors.
I’m asking you to:
• Call for an immediate investigation into Turning Point Academy and Trinity Bible Institute.
• Require background checks for all officers, directors, and managers of private schools.
• Ensure no state funds or voucher dollars go to schools tied to registered sex offenders.
• Demand full transparency from the school about its governance and safety protocols.
Texas children deserve safe schools, free from the influence of convicted predators. Please act now.
