Protect Our Public Lands - Oppose OBBBA

To: Sen. Fischer, Sen. Ricketts

From: A constituent in Omaha, NE

June 19

I’m writing as a dedicated constituent in Nebraska to urge you to vote no on the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” Despite its appealing name, this bill contains deeply troubling provisions. Most alarmingly, it mandates the sale of up to 3.3 million acres of public land managed by the U.S. Forest Service and BLM—an area roughly four times the size of Rhode Island . This push to offload public lands under vague terms, with minimal oversight or public input, endangers wilderness trails, wildlife habitat, and critical recreation areas . Additionally, the bill includes sweeping cuts to clean energy programs, Medicaid, and environmental protections—prioritizing tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations over public welfare, conservation, and community health. I urge you to stand up for Nebraska’s values—responsible stewardship, public access, and safeguarding shared resources. Please oppose the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” and preserve our public lands and critical programs for future generations. Thank you for your attention and service.
