The United States is the only democratic nation that does not compensate artists when their music is played on AM/FM radio. This long-standing injustice has denied hundreds of thousands of hard-working artists their well-deserved income over decades. Corporate radio giants have profited immensely off the backs of these creators without paying them fairly for their work. The American Music Fairness Act would finally require AM/FM radio to end this exploitative practice and pay artists royalties, just as streaming platforms already do. At the same time, it protects small broadcasters by capping their annual payments at an affordable $500 or less. I urge you to co-sponsor and vote for this legislation to bring fairness and justice to music creators who have been denied their rightful compensation for far too long. Artists are the backbone of our vibrant cultural heritage, and they deserve to be paid for their immense contributions.
