I’m writing to urge you in the strongest possible terms to block any sale of land in or near Yosemite National Park. Even a quarter-mile parcel on the park's edge sets a precedent that no protected land is truly safe from privatization.
Abraham Lincoln established in 1864 that Yosemite "shall be held for public use, resort, and recreation; shall be inalienable for all time." That word — inalienable — means something.
The Trump administration is already gutting the National Park Service, cutting its workforce by 24% and slashing regional park spending by 68% while funneling funds to Washington DC vanity projects.
Selling off Yosemite land for a private developer's benefit is the logical endpoint of that agenda: public good sacrificed for private profit.
These lands belong to everyone alive today and everyone yet to come. Oppose this sale and any future effort to carve up our national parks for corporate gain.
Thank you.
