I’m writing as a Wisconsinite and former resident of Washington, DC who is extremely alarmed by the aggressive and unnecessary takeover of DC by the president. I request my elected officials stand up for DCs right to self governance and to vote NO on any attempt to repeal the District of Columbia Home Rule Act or support a federal takeover of DC. Over 700,000 Americans live in DC, and they deserve the same right to elect their own leaders and manage their own communities as every other city in the country. Crime in DC is down this year, not increasing- so the reason being given for this total overreach is completely false. Our federal agents AND the local police both deserve to do the jobs they were hired to do and stay in their own lanes. This is an extremely dangerous precedent with a fictitious premise and it must be stopped. Please stand up for local self-governance and publicly oppose this dangerous power grab.
