Reject vouchers, fund public education for all Texans

The Legislature should reject proposals to create a school voucher program in Texas. Diverting public funds to private schools would starve already underfunded public school districts of vital resources. This threatens to exacerbate existing challenges like teacher shortages, outdated textbooks and materials, and deteriorating facilities. Public schools serve the vast majority of Texas students, and we have a moral obligation to adequately invest in a strong public education system that gives every child an equal opportunity to learn and succeed, regardless of background. A voucher program benefits a small fraction of families at the expense of the millions of students in public schools across our state. I urge you to prioritize improving and strengthening public schools through increased funding and resources rather than draining funds into an ineffective voucher scheme.
