stop the data center

To: Sen. Brantley, Rep. Armstrong, Gov. Grisham

From: A verified voter in Magdalena, NM

April 13

I live in Magdalena, and I strongly oppose the proposed data center near Socorro because its impacts will be felt directly in our town. This project is a bad fit for our region. Data centers require enormous amounts of water and energy—resources that are already limited here. Approving this means putting additional strain on our water supply and power infrastructure, with real consequences for residents in Magdalena, not just Socorro. We will bear the costs: increased pressure on scarce water, higher energy demand, and long-term environmental damage in a fragile high-desert landscape. That is not responsible development—it is short-sighted and risks lasting harm to our community. Please reject this proposal, or at minimum pause it until full, transparent impact studies are completed and the concerns of nearby communities like Magdalena are taken seriously.
