Early voting has opened. Many of my friends are writing in candidates because we cannot support genocide and you will not name it. Palestine is being destroyed with American bombs. This is not a war and Israel is not defending itself. Listen to the doctors who have volunteered their time there. Listen to the Palestinian Americans whose families are being slaughtered under an Israeli flag that might as well be the American flag. Listen to Bisan and any other surviving journalists who are covering this genocide. If you do not speak strongly against this genocide, you make the American people choose between two genocides and bear the weight of that terrible moral injury. Israeli soldiers are losing their appetites after bulldozing people in their homes, and still calling those people 'meat.' Doctors and aid workers are being destroyed. Children are being shot in the head. This is not a war, there is no way for Palestine to defend itself. For 70 years this has been ethnic cleansing, systematic dehumanization of thr Palestinian people. If Israel were any other nation doing this, we would have stopped arming them long ago. They do not represent Judaism. They do not deserve to be the oppressor. They do not deserve to bring about another Holocaust just because some of their ancestors were the targets of a previous Holocaust. This does not make anyone safer, and no amount of reaching across the aisle to Republicans will clear the blood from our hands.
