As a constituent, I strongly oppose Kash Patel for FBI director. This nomination threatens the impartiality and integrity of our nation's top law enforcement agency. Patel has concerning ties to foreign interests, potential conflicts of interest, and may have been involved in politically-motivated firings at the FBI. There are also allegations of misleading statements and potential perjury that warrant a full investigation before any consideration of his confirmation. The FBI director wields immense authority and must have the necessary experience, sound judgment, and unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the rights of all Americans. Kash Patel does not meet this standard. His track record suggests an ideological bent that could enable cronyism, harassment of perceived political enemies, and propagation of unfounded conspiracy theories rather than fact-based enforcement of laws. We cannot accept a return to the dark chapters of the FBI's history when it surveilled and violated the rights of civil rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I urge you to reject Kash Patel's nomination and insist on a nominee committed to independence, impartiality and protecting the civil rights of all Americans. The Leadership Conference, representing over 240 national organizations, firmly believes Patel is unqualified and his confirmation would deeply undermine faith in this critical institution.
