Oppose H.R. 7757 and KOSA

To: Rep. Smucker

From: A verified voter in Lititz, PA

March 9

I'm calling on you to oppose H.R. 7757, the KIDS Act package that includes the Kids Online Safety Act. This legislation does nothing to protect anyone and must be rejected. KOSA's vague language gives the Trump administration's partisan FTC dangerous power to police legal speech online. Trump's FTC has already launched political investigations into media organizations and signaled plans to help conservative advocates block content about abortion rights and gender-affirming care. Tech companies will preemptively censor content to avoid FTC action, silencing constitutionally protected speech. H.R. 7757 makes this worse by blocking state-level laws and shielding big tech from accountability. Rather than protecting children, this package hands more control to both an administration with a censorship agenda and the very companies that have failed to self-regulate. The bill passed the Senate last year but failed in the House because even Republican leadership recognized it could silence political views. Vote no on H.R. 7757. Reject any legislation that weaponizes child safety rhetoric to expand government censorship powers.
