Has the constitution been rewritten while we were distracted by the scandals and kleptocracy of the past 18 months? After Congress passed the bipartisan Graham Act only last month, Mr Trump has now “waived” those sanctions with unilaterally. This is not the action of a co-equal executive branch that put its signature on last month’s legislation—-it is the capricious wielding of absolute power that only a monarch could expect. Congress must independently investigate Mr Trump’s bizarre deference and entanglement with Putin and Russia that leads him to abandon American law and interests in Russia’s favor against both our ally Ukraine and our own troops still active against Iran who enjoys Russian support. Additionally, Congress must withhold support for Mr Trump’s agenda until it can be established that he is working on behalf of American interests, at home and abroad. So far, the only material improvements from his presidency have accrued exclusively to himself and his business partners.
