Co-sponsor and support H.R. 9090, the Advancing Menopause Care and Mid-Life Women's Health Act, and H.R. 9273, the Menopause Medical School Students Education Act. Seventy-five million women in this country are in perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause, and the medical system has largely failed them. Only 6.8% of OB/GYN, internal medicine, and family medicine residents feel adequately prepared to manage menopause care. That's not a gap — it's a collapse.
The cost of doing nothing is real. Mayo Clinic research puts the economic toll at $26.6 billion annually when lost work time and medical expenses are combined. These bills direct $275 million over five years toward NIH research, provider training, and Centers of Excellence for menopause care. That's a fraction of what inaction costs. This legislation is long overdue, and I expect your co-sponsorship.
