I am writing to express my outrage over disturbing reports detailing former President Donald Trump’s conduct at the 1991 "Look of the Year" modeling competition—an event he hosted and judged at the Plaza Hotel, where the contestants included teenage girls as young as 14.
According to survivors and investigative reporting:
Contestants described Trump repeatedly popping backstage while they were changing. One recalled: “Every time we changed, Trump would find a reason to come backstage.”
At events on yachts and in private dinners, models as young as 15 were pressured to walk or dance for Trump and other powerful men, often in ways that felt forced and exploitative.
One teenage contestant said she "knew in her gut it wasn’t right. This wasn’t being judged or part of the competition – it was for their entertainment."
These accounts reveal behavior that is not only morally repugnant but also deeply troubling given that Trump was evaluating, mingling with, and exerting influence over extremely vulnerable minors in a position of immense power.
I demand answers from your office regarding:
Why is there no formal Congressional or oversight investigation into these abuses of power and trust?
What steps will you support to ensure that such predatory environments—especially involving minors—are investigated and never tolerated by public figures?
How will you ensure protections and remedies for survivors who continue to carry the emotional burden of Trump's behavior?
Allowing silence or indifference to stand in the face of these allegations only underscores a dangerous cultural tolerance of misconduct. As an elected leader sworn to uphold safety and dignity for all, especially minors, your accountability is essential.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. I urge you to speak up forcibly and insist on full transparency. Failure to do so is complicity.
