Please support open primaries in Pennsylvania. As an independent voter, I'm locked out of elections that my tax dollars fund — and that's simply not fair. Over a million independents in this state have no say in who advances to the general ballot, even though we contribute equally to the cost of running these elections. The candidates who emerge from closed primaries are accountable to party insiders, not to the full electorate. Opening the primaries would produce more representative government and give every Pennsylvania voter a meaningful voice. I'd respectfully ask you to stand with your constituents on this — all of them — and support open primaries.
