Demand due process, stop unconstitutional deportations.

To: Rep. DelBene, Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell

April 14

The Trump administration's disregard for due process in deporting immigrants and musing about deporting citizens is a grave violation of fundamental rights. Depriving people of their liberty without fair proceedings undermines the rule of law that is the bedrock of our democracy. The mass expulsions to faraway prisons, where detainees lack access to legal recourse, are unconscionably cruel acts unbecoming of our nation's values. This lawless approach not only targets vulnerable migrant communities but also threatens the freedoms of all Americans by establishing precedents that could eventually strip citizens of their constitutional protections. Once we accept the government can deprive one group of due process, no one is truly safe from having their rights arbitrarily revoked. I urge you to take a firm stand against these draconian policies that trample on human rights and our founding principles. We must demand the Trump administration cease all deportations without proper legal proceedings and return those wrongfully banished. Inaction in the face of such abuses will only enable this administration's accelerating authoritarianism and undermine our democracy for all.
