On March 5th, Trump fired Kristi Noem as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and named Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin, a “MAGA warrior” and staunch defender of Trump to replace her. Mullin has a hardline immigration stance aligned with Trump’s. He co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act, defended ICE agents after the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and said that children who are U.S. citizens should be deported if their parents are. The Trump administration’s approach and leadership of DHS has been disastrous, with ongoing abuses of human rights, fraudulent wastes of taxpayer dollars, and the repeated defiance of court orders and constitutional law. A political appointee like Mullin will simply maintain these unlawful and harmful practices. I urge you to oppose Mullin’s confirmation.
