I am writing to you as a constituent to make my position absolutely clear: if you vote in favor of any legislation or budget that continues to fund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), I will actively and intentionally vote for every opponent who supports defunding ICE.
This is not a symbolic statement. It is a commitment.
ICE has repeatedly violated constitutional protections, including due process, protections against unlawful search and seizure, and the basic human rights guaranteed under both U.S. and international law. The continued funding of an agency that engages in racial profiling, warrantless arrests, indefinite detention, and the killing of civilians represents a moral and constitutional failure.
A vote to fund ICE is a vote to endorse these practices.
As a voter, I will not support any candidate—regardless of party—who enables or excuses the systemic abuse of power carried out by this agency. My support will go exclusively to candidates who commit to defunding ICE and pursuing immigration policy rooted in constitutional law, human dignity, and real accountability.
Elected officials are accountable to the people they serve. My vote is one of the few direct tools I have to enforce that accountability, and I will use it accordingly.
I expect a clear position from you on this issue. Silence or neutrality is, in itself, a decision
