I’m writing to express concern about the recent expansion of tariffs. While I absolutely support the goal of fair trade and bringing jobs back to the U.S., I’m worried this approach will harm American families and businesses without achieving the intended results.
Tariffs raise costs for consumers and disrupt supply chains. Many of the countries facing new tariffs have responded with a willingness to negotiate, which makes this move feel more like a trade war than a solution. Worse, it damages our relationships with allies at a time when we need strong partnerships.
If the goal is to rebuild American manufacturing, the better approach is long-term industrial policy—investing in our workforce, offering consistent incentives, and creating stability that encourages businesses to come home. Tariffs without that foundation won’t inspire the kind of investment we need.
I’m asking you to prioritize smart, sustainable strategies that actually deliver for American workers, and to push back against economic policies that only offer short-term headlines instead of long-term solutions.
Thank you for your time and service.
