The death rate inside ICE immigrant detention centers has more than doubled under Trump, according to a Reuters analysis. At the same time, ICE announced it will no longer investigate or report the deaths of those recently released from detention centers. And, in a case I know about personally, a detainee who won a habeas case was released in today’s 100 degree heat in Philadelphia without a phone or without other means to find his way to safety. The cruelty is the point, and ICE should be dissolved. The released detainee survived, thanks to the ACLU’s continued vigilance.
