President Trump, I don’t think you realize how many supplies a student uses in our country’s schools. I taught 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades over 36 years. We did not use ink pens for writing because students make mistakes and have to erase. This leads to needing a new pencil every week and amounting to the 37 pencils you said was unnecessary. I’m sure you like a great pen. Students like a sharp pencil. That means they get sharpened a lot. Watch a video if you don’t understand. They need a big eraser. They erase a lot. You put a strain on parents with your tariffs on things not made in the USA. Please consider what you are doing to the American people when you tell students that they need only 2 or 3 pencils a year. It also makes you seem very out of touch and privileged.
