Consider this your weekly reminder that your constituents are watching, and we will remember how you chose to represent us when it is time to vote. You were elected to stand up for the people of your district. You were elected to defend our interests, uphold the Constitution, exercise independent judgment, and hold those in power accountable. Instead, I continue to watch you rubber stamp the actions of this administration rather than challenge conduct that I believe is unlawful, corrupt, and harmful to the American people. Your responsibility is not to an administration. It is not to a president or a political party. It is to us, the people who elected you. Where is the oversight? Where is the willingness to say no when an administration oversteps its authority? Where is the courage to defend your constituents when doing so requires breaking with your own party? I am tired of watching elected officials treat party loyalty as more important than their constitutional responsibilities and the people they represent. Silence and unquestioning support are choices, too, and voters will judge you by those choices. Unless you begin demonstrating that you are willing to stand up for your constituents and hold this administration accountable, I will do everything within my lawful power as a voter to make sure you are not reelected. I will vote, speak to my neighbors, contact elected officials, and continue making my voice heard. You still have the opportunity to show your constituents that you represent us, not an administration. I sincerely hope you choose to do so.
