In the United States the Rule of Law is a foundational aspect of who we are. Elected officials may not use the levers.of government to punish their enemies. Retaliation for lawful criminal inquiries against government actors are unacceptable. I urge you to stand with the rule of law against corruption and Un-American behavior by President Trump. President Trump called for retaliation against Jack Smith and other government attorneys who were just doing their job in investigations. This is outrageous and unacceptable. It is also a serious breach of our law and the norms that make American great. Stand against targeted groundless political persecution against attorneys like Jack Smith. When the history books are written it is my hope that you, my elected official, will be among those who stood up to tyranny and promoted the rule of law even when it protects individuals you do not like. Stand up against corruption. Stand up against the political persecution of government attorneys.
