Oppose HJR 153 and HJR 119

To: Gov. Kehoe, Sen. Hough, Rep. Riley

From: A verified voter in Springfield, MO

February 11

I am writing to urge you to oppose HJR 153 and HJR 119. These proposals would inject partisan politics directly into the judicial appointment process, undermining the independence that our courts depend on. Judges should be selected based on qualifications, integrity, and commitment to the rule of law—not party loyalty. Shifting greater appointment power in a partisan direction, especially under a governor whose ethics and judgment many of us seriously question, risks further eroding public trust in our judiciary. Our courts must remain a check on political power, not an extension of it. Please vote no on HJR 153 and HJR 119 and stand up for an independent judiciary.
