I am writing to express my deep concern over the so-called "big, beautiful bill" currently advancing through Congress. Despite its rhetorical appeals to Main Street and family farms, this legislation is, in reality, a massive giveaway to wealthy individuals and corporations—at the direct expense of working Americans. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates this bill would add $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit, creating a crushing burden for future generations. Even more troubling are its extreme cuts to Medicaid, which could strip healthcare access from millions—especially in rural communities that already face serious healthcare shortages. These cuts threaten to shutter rural hospitals and reduce services for the most vulnerable, including seniors, children, and people with disabilities. Some Senators from both parties—like Josh Hawley and Susan Collins—have rightly raised alarms about these provisions. Unfortunately, the White House appears more interested in meeting an arbitrary July 4th deadline than responsibly legislating. This rush, paired with the President's public dismissal of concerned lawmakers as "grandstanders" and "not good people," is an alarming departure from the principles of democratic governance. Senator McConnell’s remark that the American people will “get over” whatever passes into law epitomizes the detachment and elitism that fuels public cynicism about our political system. I urge you to reject this harmful, divisive legislation. Congress must return to a bipartisan, deliberative process that prioritizes public needs over political vanity. Please stand for your constituents—our health, our economy, and our future—by voting no on this reckless and deeply damaging bill.
