Maintain inclusive communication methods for fair government access

To: Sen. Gallego, Rep. Crane, Sen. Kelly

From: A constituent in Kearny, AZ

April 14

The Social Security Administration's decision to solely utilize the platform X for official communications raises concerns about equitable access to critical information. This transition could disproportionately impact individuals without internet access or social media accounts, particularly those in underserved communities. Government agencies have an obligation to disseminate updates through channels accessible to all citizens. A reliance on commercial platforms controlled by private interests risks compromising transparency and public trust. Rather than shifting entirely to a single, proprietary platform, the SSA should maintain a multi-channel approach, including traditional websites and releases, to ensure no one is excluded from receiving vital updates about essential services and benefits. Prioritizing open and inclusive communication methods upholds principles of equal access and serves the public interest.
