An Open Letter

To: Sen. Banks, Sen. Young, Rep. Stutzman

From: A constituent in Fort Wayne, IN

June 12

I have to ask you gentlemen a question and I would very much appreciate a serious answer. We are supposedly the largest net oil producer in the the world, yet we are opening up public lands to further oil exploration. If we don’t need it, why and if someday we do, it will still be there! The president wants to allow mining in pristine wilderness areas, “ Boundary Waters in MN, why, haven’t we done enough damage to the land and environment ? I as a constituent, and am asking you to vote against the selling and /or leasing of our public lands to private interests. Those lands belong to the people, not to DC or the president and you as representatives of the people have a sworn responsibility to protect those lands for the people and future generations. I for one will be watching what you do and if you don’t do the people’s business, believe me, I and others will make sure the people know. The farmers, the small business owners are not real high on you folks at the moment, so get on the right side of this! Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!
