Senator Schumer has served us well, for many years. He has been faithful to the party and has worked hard for its ideals. However, we are in a new era. Democrats wants to see themselves reflected in their leaders, and want to be assured that their leaders will fight with fire sufficient to hold back those who allowed the current regime to endanger so many of us. Simply put, Democrats feel it is time for our party leaders to be younger and to meet the moment.
I am extremely politically active, with friends across the wide, Democratic tent. These friends represent a huge variety of perspectives, in terms of the direction our party should go, perspectives which are oftentimes at odds. However, one point of agreement that is almost universal is that we are past due for new leadership. I am hearing over and over that a party that won't listen to their constituents on who should lead them is not a party they can support.
Please send the message that the Democratic party is responsive to its members and is willing to make the changes necessary to meet the unique challenges of this current political landscape. Please consider encouraging Senator Schumer to step aside, for the good of the party he has given so much of his life to. His legacy depends on putting hubris aside and letting the next generation step up.
