SAVE VOTING RIGHTS: VOTE NO ON SAVE ACT

To: Sen. Moran, Rep. Estes, Sen. Marshall

From: A constituent in Wichita, KS

February 11

I am a constuent of Kansas and I am deeply concerned with the SAVE ACT. This act has nothing to do with making sure votes are safe and legal. It is to make voting more difficult for people that have changed their name, specifically women. Women who decide to change their name, typically related to marriage, already jump through hoops to ensure their government documents are changed correctly. The birth rate continues declining and this will make marriage more difficult and less likely for young adults. The several required documents, and addition of Real Id a few years ago, should be adequate vetting or else they are useless. Why make us do it again? This will make it less likely for women to vote, especially women of color and lower economic status. It is expensive and takes time to get a certified copies of your birth certificate and marriage license. It is expensive with long waits to get a passport. We provide all of these documents and more to get a Read ID and passport. Do you not trust that system that you created and has worked? Voter fraud is less than 1%; illegal immigrants do not have the documents to be able to vote regardless. I implore you to please vote no on the SAVE ACT and do not allow it as part of any other bill. The right to vote is essential to this country and it must be protected at all costs. This bill will only marginalize your citizens and decrease voter turnout. That is absolutely unacceptable. The only moral choice is NO.
