Targeting and undermining the rights of transgender and nonbinary individuals is unacceptable. Implementing policies that deny their existence, restrict access to essential medical care, and forbid support within educational settings perpetuates harm. We must recognize the basic human dignity of all people, regardless of gender identity. Preventing social transitioning and gender-affirming care for youth can have severe negative impacts on their mental health and well-being. Trans service members have served honorably, and excluding them undermines military readiness. I urge you to protect the rights of this vulnerable community and reject measures that fuel discrimination and marginalization. Their identities deserve respect and equal treatment under the law.
