ICE’s problem is systemic. Congress must change that system

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

January 30

ICE is no longer performing the role it was originally tasked with. Instead, it has become a poorly-trained paramilitary force of nameless and faceless ‘officers’ who are answerable to no one. ICE ‘officers’ are abducting non-criminals, including children, from the street without due process. They are summarily executing American citizens in broad daylight. They are terrorizing communities at the behest of this Republican administration. This cannot be allowed to continue. Congress’ inaction allows the executive branch to wield complete unconstitutional control without any accountability. You and your congressional colleagues could stop this if you valued the Constitution, this country, and the ideals it was founded on. You, as a member of Congress, have the power to hold ICE ‘officers’ and leaders accountable for their crimes. Why are you not? Local police must be allowed to investigate the extrajudicial murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Those responsible must be arrested and charged. Why have they not been? Congress must call Greg Bovino, Tom Homan and Kristi Noem to testify publicly, before Congress, about ICE’s crimes and their role in those crimes. Why have you not? ICE’s problem is systemic and growing. My wife and I strongly urge you to demand a drastic change in that system.
