I am shocked and dismayed by President Trump’s invasion of Venezuela. It flies in the face of international law and of Constitutional requirements for going to war. In light of the recent pardon of the former president of Honduras, who was found guilty by our courts of drug trafficking, it seems ingenuous at the very least to say that this is all about drugs harming Americans. It seems to be clearly a bid to enrich the new class of American oligarchs with Venezuela’s oil. This is thuggish behavior unworthy of the ideals of America. It also is perhaps part of a deal between Trump and Putin. Trump gets Venezuela and Putin gets Ukraine. Far from in any way leading to a safer, more peaceful world, this action will lead to a further destabilization of our world and strain US relationships with longtime allies. Also, what is the plan now for Venezuela? I fear that there is no plan and no one competent to carry out a plan.
Congress! Take back your power! This administration is running amok and they are tearing our country, and the world, apart.
