One Family, One Ruling, One Nation's Conscience
To: Pres. Trump
From: A verified voter in Donnellson, IL
April 16
I am writing to you with deep concern and a heavy heart regarding the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a legal resident of Maryland who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador in direct violation of a court order. The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the federal government must facilitate his release and ensure he is treated as though he had never been deported—yet your administration has not acted in good faith to uphold this ruling.
Mr. Abrego Garcia was living here legally with his American wife and child. His forced removal was not only a legal failure—it was an assault on due process, family unity, and basic human decency. The explanation that this deportation was a “clerical error” is unacceptable. The lack of urgency to rectify this wrong is even more disturbing.
This is about more than one man. It is about the rule of law. The refusal to honor a Supreme Court decision erodes public trust and undermines the foundations of our democracy. I urge you to take immediate steps to comply fully with the Court’s order, and to facilitate Mr. Abrego Garcia’s safe and prompt return to his family in the United States.
Furthermore, I implore you to halt the deportation of individuals for whom there is no legal or moral justification for removal. We must bring justice not only to Mr. Abrego Garcia, but to all who have been unjustly deported. This includes reviewing their cases, acknowledging the failures, and providing a path to reunion and restitution.
Mr. President, leadership means correcting wrongs—even when they are politically inconvenient. I hope you will rise to this moment with the urgency and integrity it demands.
Thank you for your time and for your attention to this deeply important matter.
