The federal government exists to serve the public good, not generate profits for private corporations. Privatizing public services will lead to deteriorating quality, higher costs for citizens, and a loss of transparency and accountability. Essential functions like the postal service, weather forecasting, federal lands management, and the Food and Drug Administration must remain under public control to ensure they prioritize people over profits. Despite claims that contractors were not needed, the FDA has already begun hiring private contractors, signaling a disturbing move toward privatization. The Department of Government Efficiency's aggressive job cuts and agency sabotage are clearly aimed at manufacturing a privatization crisis, not improving efficiency. We cannot allow vital public institutions to be deliberately undermined and then sold off to the highest corporate bidder. Privatization schemes enrich a few wealthy interests at the expense of the many. I urge you to reject these destructive privatization efforts and instead invest in strengthening federal agencies to properly serve all Americans. Public services should not be turned into profit-making enterprises for corporations and billionaires like Elon Musk. We must protect the public good by keeping essential government functions under public control and oversight.
