An Open Letter

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Kaptur, Sen. Moreno

From: A verified voter in Clyde, OH

December 10

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of Ohio regarding House Bill 680, also known as the KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act), as well as the age verification laws that are currently being considered. I urge you to oppose these laws during the upcoming legislative session this Thursday. The proposed KOSA and age verification laws threaten to undermine essential freedoms while failing to ensure the safety of our children online. Instead of effectively addressing the complexities surrounding online safety, these measures risk compromising privacy and further endangering vulnerable youth by subjecting them to institutional oversight and unnecessary scrutiny. Furthermore, I demand the repeal of Ohio's age verification laws that were passed in last summer's budget bill. These regulations create barriers to access for vital online resources and disproportionately affect marginalized communities who may not have the means to comply with arbitrary verification requirements. Please stand with your constituents and prioritize our fundamental rights over these invasive and ineffective regulations. Thank you for your time and consideration.
