You need to run on reforming how Congress governs itself — specifically, mandating a minimum number of session days or stripping members of their pay when they don't show up. Teachers work 195 days a year to keep their salaries. Congress should meet the same standard. Right now, House members just handed themselves a two-month paid vacation while Americans are dealing with an affordability crisis, an ongoing war, and a stack of unaddressed legislation. Speaker Johnson called it "stupid" to suggest he'd recess Congress until after the election — then did exactly that. The House will be in session for just four days after Labor Day before clearing out by September 17 until after the midterms. That's not governance, that's campaigning on the public's dime. The Epstein Transparency Act II, cost-of-living relief, and dozens of other pressing issues are just sitting there while members go home to fundraise. This isn't a scheduling quirk — it's a structural failure. Push for binding rules that tie congressional pay directly to session attendance. If members won't legislate, they shouldn't get paid.
